Research professor emeritus at the Institute for Legal Studies of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and at the Peter Pazmany Catholic University (Budapest), D. Sc. (Law). Visiting professor at several universities in the United States, Australia, Italy, Germany, United Kingdom, Japan, and Russia. Author of more than 450 works published only in English, German, French, Russian and other foreign languages, including monographs on “Codification as a Sociohistorical Phenomenon”, “The Place of Law in Lukácsʼ World Concept”, “Theory of Judicial Process”, and “Paradigms of Legal Thinking”. Among others, author of the books „Право: Теория и философия” (Budapest: ELTE “Comparative Legal Cultures” Project 1994) and „Загадка права и правового мышления: Избранные произведения” (Санкт-Петербург: «Алеф-Пресс» 2015). Advisor to the prime minister of Hungary (1990–1994), member of the International Academy of Comparative Law. Recipient of Hungaryʼs highest award for scientific achievements.
